WASHINGTON (Thomson Financial) - Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson today rejected the idea that President George Bush's plan to ease mortgage payments for hundreds of thousands of homeowners is a government-led bailout, instead calling the coordinated effort a standardized blueprint that will allow the market to prevent what would otherwise be a slew of foreclosures in the next two years.
